Stop paying for
Housecall Pro.
You've outgrown the basic tools. Plenum is the high-performance operating system built for modern fleets.
When Simple Tools Hit the Ceiling
Housecall Pro serves 40,000+ contractors, mostly solo operators and small crews. The platform launched in 2013 targeting simplicity over sophistication. You can book jobs, send invoices, and track time.
The Problem: As shops grow past 5-8 trucks, the limitations surface. When you run 15 trucks covering 300 square miles, manual scheduling costs you 2-3 billable hours per tech per day.
The core issue is data structure:
- Every job treated as an isolated event
- No clustering intelligence
- No property-centric records
- No compositional pricing
1What Housecall Pro Does Well
Housecall Pro excels at onboarding speed:
- New users create their first job in 10 minutes
- Interface uses familiar consumer app patterns
- Technicians adapt quickly to mobile experience
- Payment processing integration is seamless (all major card networks plus ACH)
For small operations where payment friction matters more than routing optimization, this simplicity has value.
2Where Plenum Adds Intelligence
We built Plenum for the growth phase Housecall Pro doesn't address. When you hit 10+ trucks, routing becomes a mathematical problem. Our clustering engine uses DBSCAN algorithms to group jobs by geography and time windows.
Property-Centric Model: A property manager with 50 buildings is one customer record, not 50 duplicate entries. Equipment tracks to properties, not people. Service history follows the physical asset.
Rebate Automation: Saves 15-20 hours per month for shops doing replacement installs. We pull AHRI certification data from rebate.blue, match equipment models to utility programs, and auto-generate submission forms.
3Offline Mode: The Real Difference
Housecall Pro caches recent data for offline access. Technicians can view jobs and add notes. But creating new estimates, accessing full customer history, or looking up pricebook items requires network connectivity.
Plenum Offline: Full SQLite database on each device. All customer data, equipment records, pricebook items, and job history live locally. Technicians build estimates, update job status, and process payments completely offline. Sync happens in the background when connectivity returns.
4Migration Path
Moving from Housecall Pro is straightforward:
- Housecall Pro exports CSV files for customers, jobs, and invoices
- We handle technical import, mapping fields to our property-centric model
- Customer contacts become customer records, job addresses become properties
- Migration takes 3-5 days for most shops
- Most shops switch completely within one week
5Pricing Comparison
Housecall Pro: $49-79/user/month depending on plan tier. Marketing features, custom forms, and advanced reporting cost extra. A 15-user shop typically pays $1,200-1,500/month.
Plenum: $999/month for the core platform with 5 technicians included. Additional technicians beyond the first 5 require the Rebate Gate module at $199/tech/month. Intelligent routing and pricebook features included at no extra charge. See plenum.pro/pricing for current rates.
6Who Should Stay, Who Should Switch
Stay with Housecall Pro if:
- You run 1-5 trucks
- Do mostly service calls instead of installs
- Prioritize low monthly costs over efficiency gains
Switch to Plenum when:
- You cross 8-10 trucks and routing becomes a daily bottleneck
- You start losing install revenue to manual rebate paperwork
- Technicians complain about app crashes in offline conditions
- You're outgrowing simple tools but not ready for enterprise bloat
The cost of staying put.
Every day you stay on legacy software, you lose billable hours to bad routing and manual rebate paperwork. See exactly how much revenue you're leaving on the table.
